Clipping vs TikTok Creator Rewards

TikTok Creator Rewards and YouTube Shorts ad revenue need big audiences first. Clipping campaigns pay from your first 1,000 views. How they compare.

Updated ·

In short

  • TikTok Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days and videos over a minute long, according to most creator guides. TikTok does not publish a fixed rate.
  • YouTube Shorts ad revenue needs 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million Shorts views in 90 days, rising to 20 million for new applicants from 1 February 2027.
  • Clipping campaigns have no follower or view threshold: you earn the campaign’s rate from your first full 1,000 verified views.
  • Creator Rewards excludes sponsored content, so a paid campaign clip usually won’t also earn Creator Rewards. Many creators run both: their own videos for platform payouts, campaign clips for campaigns.

What does TikTok Creator Rewards require?

Creator guides in 2026 agree on the core gates: you must be 18 or over, have at least 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, post original videos longer than one minute, and live in an eligible country. Duets, stitches, ads and sponsored content do not qualify. Payment is based on qualified views, which exclude some traffic, and TikTok does not publish a fixed rate per 1,000 views. How do clipping campaigns pay instead?

A clipping campaign is funded by a studio, not the platform. On MetaClip, a Roblox studio sets a rate per 1,000 views, you post a clip of its game from your own TikTok, Instagram or YouTube account, and you earn floor(views ÷ 1,000) × the rate on approved clips, with views read from the platform every hour. There is no follower or view threshold to reach first. MetaClip keeps 15% of gross, and earnings clear after 7 days.

Which pays more?

For a new or small account, clipping campaigns, simply because the platform programs pay nothing until you cross their thresholds. Once you qualify, the two sit side by side rather than stacking: creator guides say Creator Rewards excludes sponsored and branded content, so paid campaign clips earn from the campaign and your own videos earn from the platform. Compare live campaign rates on the campaigns board and model a clip with the clipping calculator.
