In short
- On PC, record with OBS Studio (free). On a phone, use the built-in screen recorder.
- Record landscape at 1920×1080 and 60 fps, then crop to vertical 9:16 when you edit; it keeps your options open.
- Turn on OBS’s Replay Buffer so one hotkey saves the gameplay you just played, right after something great happens.
- Edit to 15–60 seconds with a hook in the first two seconds and captions on screen, then export at 1080×1920.
- If a studio pays for the clip, turn on the platform’s paid-promotion label when you post.
What do you need to record Roblox clips?
- PC or Mac: OBS Studio, free and open source.
- Phone or tablet: the built-in screen recorder (Control Center on iPhone, Quick Settings on most Android phones).
- An editor: CapCut is free on desktop and mobile and has automatic captions.
No paid software, capture card or microphone is needed to start.
What are the best OBS settings for Roblox clips?
Resolution and frame rate
In Settings → Video, set the base and output resolution to 1920×1080 and the frame rate to 60. Recording landscape and cropping to vertical later keeps the full scene, so you can reframe each moment. If you only ever post vertical, you can instead set a 1080×1920 canvas and fit the game into it.
Encoder and quality
In Settings → Output, choose a hardware encoder (NVIDIA NVENC, AMD or Apple VideoToolbox) so recording does not slow the game down. In Simple mode, set recording quality to “High Quality, Medium File Size” or better.
Format
Record to MKV, which survives a crash without losing the file, then use File → Remux Recordings to turn it into an MP4 for your editor.
Replay Buffer
Turn on Replay Buffer in Settings → Output and give it a hotkey. OBS keeps the last stretch of gameplay in memory, and one key press saves it, so you never miss the moment that just happened.
How do you record Roblox on a phone?
Start the built-in screen recorder before you open the game, then play in landscape. Turn on Do Not Disturb first so notifications do not appear in the recording. Trim the start and end in your editor, and crop to 9:16 around the action.
Which Roblox settings make clips look better?
- Graphics: in the Roblox menu’s settings, switch graphics mode to manual and raise the quality as far as your device stays smooth.
- Chat: close the chat window so other players’ names and messages stay out of your clips.
- Camera: zoom in on the action. Close framing reads better on a phone screen than a wide shot.
How should you edit a Roblox clip?
- Set the project to 9:16 and crop around the action, following it as it moves.
- Cut straight to the hook. The first two seconds decide whether people keep watching.
- Remove dead time between beats; aim for 15 to 60 seconds overall.
- Add captions, either automatic or a short line that sets up the payoff.
- Punch in (zoom) on the key moment so it reads on a small screen.
- Export at 1080×1920, 30 or 60 fps.

How do you disclose a paid clip?
When a studio pays you through a campaign, label the post as paid. Each platform has a setting for it when you upload:
- TikTok: turn on content disclosure and mark it as branded content.
- Instagram: add the paid partnership label.
- YouTube: tick the paid promotion box in the video’s details.
Adding #ad to the caption as well makes it clear to viewers.
Posting checklist
- Posted after the campaign’s start date, on a platform it accepts.
- Posted from an account connected to MetaClip (Instagram: Business or Creator).
- Game named in the caption and on screen.
- Campaign brief followed, including any required sound.
- Paid-promotion label on.
If views do not show up, see why clip views don’t count.
